Terri Clark

Congrats to Robin P.! Lee is our Monthly Music Memory winner for June! Robin’s very touching story is about Terri’s song, “Smile”

“Smile”

I’m new to Terri Clark’s music, although I now love all of her music. The song that made me a life long fan is ‘Smile.’  While driving home after being on duty for 16 hrs I was playing the music I have downloaded on my phone,  ‘Smile’ played. At that time I did not have any of Terri Clark’s songs on my phone. As the song was playing, it brought me back to August 21, 2008, the day my mother lost her battle with Breast Cancer.  While I was at her bed side, she said to me ” Remember I will always be in your heart. I’m going home, I’ll be there waiting for you  to come home, I promise. I will always be with you, even when you feel alone. I’ve always had faith in you, promise me you won’t lose faith in yourself.”

I can’t explain how or why  ‘Smile’ played in my truck that night, but I’m thankful that it did.  My mother was a big country music fan. I’m guessing it was my mother letting me know that she was with me that day when I was almost killed.
A couple of days ago a friend of mine who knows all of Terri Clark’s music, told me she wrote ‘Smile’ for her mother who passed from cancer. I have tears running down my face as I’m typing, I can’t imagine what it was like for Ms. Clark to write and record ‘Smile.’ I would like to personally thank Ms. Clark for sharing her talent, and amazing voice with all of us.
