Terri says…

All I can say about this song is that it is a true story.  About going to that place where everyone says ” what happens stays there” and finding true love.  In a place you least expect to find anything authentic or genuine, which is the irony.  I guess it doesn’t matter where you meet the love of your life, even if it is the most bizarre place you can imagine, the world around you just disappears.

Lyrics

Written by-Terri Clark / Maia Sharp

I never really liked this place
hard to tell the nights from days
lost inside a smoky maze, with no last call…

You walked up , I turned around,
You were drinking something watered down
Maybe I don’t hate this town, after all

CHORUS
Could sin city save us
could Lady luck wave us
on through the velvet rope
The whispers in my ear, said everything stays here
But we know something they don’t
Sometimes What Happens in Vegas….
Follows you home
Follows you home

It’s just a state of mind
and crossing that Nevada line
I thought I’d never find
my wildest dream,
I almost had to live without,
now neon lights are washing out
any shadow of a doubt, and I believe

CHORUS
Sin City saved us
Lady Luck waved us
On through the velvet rope
The whispers in my ear said
everything stays here
but we know something they don’t
Sometimes What Happens in Vegas….
Follows you home
Follows you home

BRIDGE
Among the false promises, glitter and phoniness,
somehow we’ve found the real thing….

REPEAT 2nd CHORUS

Nice song – really love it.
Maia Sharp is a great songwriter who collaborates quite often with guitarist Janet Robin from LA. What a wonderful suprise to see her name on the songwriting credits with TC. very cool!

BTW, thanks for making a song that is about true love in Vegas/Reno/Nevada…everytime I say we got married in Reno…people always give us a funny look. Not everyone who gets married here gets married by Elvis…..

Being a Nevad girl and hearing this song just made me laugh….b/c yeah, he followed me home! It’ll be 6 years in 6 days actually! And I would trade a minute of it!!!

I think this just became my new Fav T.C. song!!!!!

Met Maia Sharp at her concert last night at Eddie’s Attic…she of course had nothing but wonderful things to say about TC and their collaboration on What Happens in Vegas. Very cool evening and she is a great musician in addition to being a talented song writer. I encourage you to seek out where she may be playing in your area.

I love the song, we all know to well about finding things in unexpected places, especially love. I can already see that the beauty in this album will be it’s connection to the everyday person. The cover is AWESOME…I’ve told other fans already, if that’s 40, by george I’m lookin FORWARD to it!!! This is the music with the feeling that I’ve been waiting for TC. I cannot wait to see where it takes you!!!

I just got to hear this song for the first time at Country Thunder (Twin Lakes, WI). You have done it again Terri! What happens at Country Thunder follows you home! In my case it was meeting you for the first time after being a fan for 14 years, and now I have been listening to all your other c.d.’s and waiting for the new one. I don’t know who you found in Vegas, but all that matters is that it seems to have made you happy. Never lose your Rebel Soul, girl!

Nice story behind this song. I think we all meet the love of our life in a bizarre non-typical situation. I know I did…and half of y’all were there. Can’t get much more bizarre than that. It’s just plum crazy when you stop to think about it. I love this song cause it reminds us that life has a way of working things out…and gives us great stories to tell afterwards. ;)

Love the album cover TC, very fitting with the newer you we see……maybe not newer but you. I am happy you told me I looked great even though I don’t, standing next to you that’s hard LOL! You seem to be looking younger and that ain’t fair! Anyway I am really excited to hear the rest of the songs and I’ll pick a favorite!

My take on the album cover…. SMOKIN!!! Life comes with dark circles under the eyes… :)
I think this is a little creative lighting on the photographers part to make an impact.

You look great…just keep doing what you are doing…nothing in too much excess…unless of course if feels too good. :)

Hey Terri, I couldn’t find a different place to post this, so here it goes. I know that probably you were going for maturity when it comes to the album cover. I, in my honest opinion, think it’s dark. Especially since you are obviously happy. I’m not trying to tell you what to do, just a suggestion. Here’s another one please. Many people in the world, know that dark circles under one’s eyes, there is more than one reason for this. However it bothers me in that, I’ve been noticing this for quite some time, even through the makeup. Please for all people in your life especially now, hopefully with that extremely busy schedule, maybe find time to get a thorough check up? In the other site, many of your fans have made similar comments. About taking care of you too, cause we would like to have you around for a long time, because you help many people get through the day.

LOL, “follows you home” huh Terri?? Awesome line in some ways… glad to see that “Tough with Me” is on board this CD… I really loved that song and am glad to see that it’s going to get a “legitimate” release. Also glad to see that you used one of my second favorite places in a song…. how about Fenway or California next? ;-)

Aren’t you the one who said, “I Think the World Needs a Drink”? If it’s a hangover that followed you home, there’s only one person to blame. Actually, there’s only one person to blame for anything that happens in Vegas – I’ll drink to that! Anyone care to join me? A TERRI-ble Terri fan in Vegas, Ron.

Terri, this one is a great song as well. You’re right about, the irony in it. So, does this mean you’ve fallin in love again? I know it’s your personal life, but if it’s really here then I hope that you won’t get hurt again. I know and so don’t you, that pain is something we never hopefully, experience again, when it comes to love. I am here in a painful situation now, it’s worse, cause I have to deal with it. Like it or not, cause it won’t be worth, killing 12 years of sobriety! Courage to change the things I can!!

Will “The Long Road Home” come to rival the preeminence of “Fearless”? Rather, I suspect both will simply share the pinnacle.
