Jason Cheek
Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, drummer Jason Cheek earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Georgia in 2006, having studied drumset and percussion under Dr. Thomas McCutchen, Dr. Arvin Scott, and jazz under Steve Dancz. Upon graduating, he immediately began working as a freelance musician, performing, recording, and teaching throughout the state of Georgia. In 2007, he relocated to Nashville, Tennessee to further pursue performing and recording opportunities.
Since arriving in Nashville, Jason has established himself as an in-demand drumset artist in the local country, contemporary Christian, and jazz scenes. He has performed with a variety of artists as diverse as Ferrier, Michael Olson, Andra Moran, Lindsay George, and Gabriel Kelley, and he has been increasingly busy in the studio, appearing on recent releases by Evan McHugh, Ferrier, Mike Evin, Brandon Ingle, Allie Hays, Josh Bayne, and Gabriel Kelley. The past few years have also led to an increase in Jason’s interest in music production and engineering, and he now operates Candler Music Studio, which he uses for producing, recording drum tracks and complete records, and sampling and programming loops.
Still a relatively new face in a city of seasoned musicians, Jason enjoys the opportunity to learn from the wealth of amazing artists and players who call Nashville home, so it is with great excitement that he joins Terri Clark and her band.
