Terri says…
I hesitated to re-cut an old song that I had previously recorded unless I could do it in a completely different way. This song was written several years ago, long before my Mother was diagnosed with Cancer. Her fight and seeing her in so much pain and suffering in the past 3 years is what inspired me to cut this song again. This version is a lot more intimate, less bombastic, and to me, speaks a little more to what the lyric is saying. Vince Gill’s voice just brings it to life, and adds to the emotion. It is a lyric that I am singing, and hearing in a whole different light than I did the first time I cut it, which was the whole reason for re visiting the song. It means so much more to me now.
Lyrics
T Clark/G Burr
He says it’s none of my damn business, how much he drinks
And he doesn’t have a problem, no mater what the whole town thinks
At his baby’s birthday party, there was whiskey on his breath
Everybody wants to save him, but he’s not ready yet
You wanna scream, you wanna cry
You want someone to tell you why
All the hope that’s in your heart is not enough
You hit your knees, you shake your fists
Oh, it’s the deepest wound there is
When you can’t help the one you love
Her sister reads the bible, her father sits an’ snores
They’re with her every minute, ’cause they may not have many more
She was dancin’ in New Orleans, only seven weeks ago
Life may go on without her, but not the life we know
You wanna scream, you wanna cry
You want someone to tell you why
All the hope that’s in your heart is not enough
You hit your knees, you shake your fists
Oh, it’s the deepest wound there is
When you can’t help the one you love
When someone’s slippin’ away
Right before your eyes
How useless we are
Is a painful surprise
You wanna scream, you wanna cry
You want someone to tell you why
All the hope that’s in your heart is not enough
You hit your knees, you shake your fists
Oh, it’s the deepest wound there is
When you can’t help the one you love
When you can’t help the one you love

Terri, i was at your concert in las vegas, and loved all the songs so much that i bought the cd after the show. this particular song hit me on a couple of levels. one i just lost my mom in april of 09, and two i have a brother who is into drugs, but denies he has a problem. i look forward to you to coming back to las vegas, and i have a suggestion for a venue, it’s the ovation inside green valley ranch hotel&casino, it’s a real nice place and it’s inside the building not in a tent.
take care of your beautiful voice.

I read the write-up about this song in a country magazine and wanted to hear it. I lost my Mom a little over a year ago and the chorus of this song is exactly how I feel. Terri, if you read this, you sing it beautifully.
Thankful in Astoria

We went to your concert in Astoria Oregon, let me tell you, the moment I heard this song I thought of my Uncle. I could not wait to get this CD to have him listen to this song. Perhaps he will “hear” your words. Thank you for your wonderful music and especially…this song!

I can totally relate to this one as I am going through that with my husband he drinks and uses the drugs and figures he only hurts himself. So sad.

Любопытно. Значит нужно какие-то поправки вносить.

А в чем смысл добавлять свой блог на Фид-бернер? Траф это увеличит или еще что? (извините: за оффтопик)
