Terri’s Summer Update

Hey Hat Brats!

Summer is officially in full swing! I’ve been trying to avoid the heat and humidity of Tennessee by either being on the road or staying up in Ontario out on the lake. It’s actually been unseasonably cool up there so there is quite a climate disparity from one place to the other. I am building a house in rural TN right now, and don’t know how these framers are surviving working in this heat and humidity. I took them some sandwiches and Gatorade the other day – I’m surprised someone doesn’t get dehydrated or heat stroke. They work really hard. Does the fact that I am talking about the weather so much show my age?  Am I getting old?  Geez, I sound like my grandmother.

As many of you know, there is a new addition to the fur family. I was on a waiting list for another little dachshund. However, after my neighbor brought her 4-month-old Morkie over for a play date with Charlee they wore each other out and played and played for hours. I asked her where she got her and the rest is history. Charlee and Rigby love each other. Rudy couldn’t care less about either of them and just watches them play from the comfort of his bed.  Speaking of Rudy, he is doing great after his rather scary back problem. He had to have major back surgery after a ruptured disc, and had to be confined for 6 weeks, which he did NOT like AT all. He’s back to being the escape artist that he is and I’ve had to chase him through the neighborhood in my pajamas after he magically manages to get out of the fenced area. If you see a wiener dog in a bow tie prancing through the bushes, that would be him. I got a GPS for him but it broke so hopefully the new one will come before he gets out again. It’s maddening. The two female dogs just want to be where they will get human attention so I don’t have to worry about them.

As a lot of you know, my role at America’s Morning Show has changed and I am now doing a feature called “Terri’s Throwback Thursday.” Try to tune in if you can – it’s a hoot!  I get to tell stories and guess song intros, and talk about the shows we are doing on the road. Perfect scenario. The 5-days-a-week schedule was very hard with playing shows on the weekends…and sleep deprivation made me a bitch to be around at times. I belong on the road and plan to be for a long time to come. I have a new love affair with the road and playing music these days, especially having been so limited the past couple of years. I’m loving it now more than ever! I signed with a new booking agency called The Agency Group and they are seriously kicking ass. When I signed with them we decided the plan was going to be to tap into several US markets that I haven’t visited in several years so they are out booking those like crazy. It’s great to be out here in places like Montana seeing people’s enthusiasm and setting attendance records. We have some really cool gigs coming up and I am particularly looking forward to the Minnesota State Fair. I haven’t played that in years and have a lot of friends in that area. We will be concentrating mostly on US dates until next summer and then will be back doing some shows in Canada again.

The CCMAs are around the corner and I was pleasantly surprised that I made history by being nominated 20 consecutive years in the Female Vocalist category. It feels really great and I have all of you to thank for it.  I am not going to be in attendance this year as I am hosting a big surprise party for someone in my family – which I can’t reveal, or someone might tell her, but it’s a pretty big deal. Family first.

I was recently riding through Montana in between shows, reveling in the beauty and how lucky we are to do this for a living. As we drove through the mountains, I was listening to the brand new Jason Isbell record. He’s the new Bob Dylan in my opinion and I just lose my mind over his songwriting. I hope to see him live someday. Speaking of music, our new drummer Matt is doing a bang up job – pun intended.

There are a few things in the hopper as far as new music goes.  I am booking some co-writes for the fall and hope to start working on a new album or EP sometime in 2016.  I have a feeling I will see a lot of you on the road and out in Nevada in December. I am looking forward to that! We also have another run out west coming up in February and March – some Colorado, California, Idaho, and New Mexico shows…stay tuned for on-sale dates and locations!

Stay cool, take care, and have a great rest of the summer everyone!  Hope to see you soon. I’m gonna catch that 7lbs bass this year!

    Hi Terri,

We’ve never met, but maybe some day. I just had a birthday on Saturday a little while back in 1968. We…especially me love you here in the greatest state in the union. (Idaho) Born & Bread here; No that doesn’t make me a hay seed. (On second thought…. Well maybe it does. SHit!)

    Yours Truly,
    Jason Juker

To go w/your throw-back Thursday bit, I had Murder She Wrote on the Hallmark Murders & Mysteries channel, heard this female singing, thought to myself, “That’s Terri Clark”! Sure enough it was. What a treat!

It sounds like things are really going well for you! It’s really great to hear that you are doing what you love without over working yourself.

Thank you for being kind hearted and taking sandwiches and gatorade to the guys working outdoors. I work in the heat as well and always appreciate a random act of kindness like that.

We do look forward to seeing you in St Louis or Central Illinois whenever you get booked out here. I love seeing you perform live!

Congratulations on 20 years of nominations. It’s well deserved. Be good to yourself and enjoy the rest of your summer fun!

Have fun. Go fishing. Love the blog. I caught a big alla gator gar last weekend. Try not to catch those if you get to fish. Not fun taking them off the hook.

I love to hear your dog stories. I had two yorkies myself – one just passed away a few weeks ago. I thought the other would miss her but seems he’s quite happy to be the king of his castle. I’m an animal lover like you. Congrats on 20 consecutive nominations. Can’t wait for you to start your Canadian tour dates again. If you visit your family in the Gaspe, you can scoot over to the NB side and do some serious bass fishing in the Bay of Chaleur. Lots of bass this year.
