Terri says…

This song is about being able to be vulnerable with the one you love. Maybe you have a job where you need to go and put on a “tough” façade all day long, and hold it together. When you come home at night, you should be able to drop your guard and feel safe with the one person who loves and honors you more than anyone. Love should be a retreat from the harsh realities of the world and all the expectations it places on us.

Lyrics

Written by T Clark/T Shapiro/J Collins

Your neck is burned your body’s hurtin’
Boss man’s been on your back all day
You’re out there in the hot sun workin
While he’s sippin iced tea in the shade
You have to put up with so much & you feel beat up
But that’s all about to fade away

CHORUS
Come on, lay your head down on my shoulder
Let your troubled mind go free
All day long you’ve had to be strong, but now you’re home & I’ll make you see
You don’t have to be tough with me
You don’t have to be tough with me

Just leave your boots there by the doorway
I’ll pour us both a glass of wine
I’ll bet I can think of some way
To help bring back your tender side
It’s a heavy load to bear in your world out there
But tonight you’re back in mine

CHORUS
Come on, lay your head down on my shoulder
Let your troubled mind go free
All day long you’ve had to be strong, but now you’re home & I’ll make you see
You don’t have to be tough with me

There it is now there you go, there’s that smile I know
Let’s keep it goin all night long
All night long

CHORUS
Come on, lay your head down on my shoulder
Let your troubled mind go free
All day long you’ve had to be strong, but now you’re home & I’ll make you see
You don’t have to be tough with me
You don’t have to be tough with me
