Terri says…
I see this as a sort of “coming of age” song. Where you sit still long enough to figure out that life is not all about getting ahead, winning the race. It is in the moments that matter. Serenity, love, family, friends, relationships, God…those are the things that are worth fighting for. I think I spent years in a fog, working and touring, and just moving so fast that everything was a blur for about 12 years. We all need to embrace that child inside us, the person we were before the world took hold, and remember to “smile”, “laugh”, and know when to get off the whirlwind ride, and be still.
Lyrics
Written by T Clark/B Pinson/TShapiro
I’ve been dreamin’ & drivin’ so fast for so long
Fallin’ & climbin’, fallin’ & carryin’ on
Hell bent on stayin’ one step ahead
So caught up in the game, I can’t catch my breath
Livin’ too bright to soak up the sun
Missin’ the miles for the races I’ve run
But I’m slowly slowin’ me down
Knowin’ this world will go round
It’ll keep goin’ round even when I stop spinnin’
I’m figurin’ out it ain’t all about winnin’
You ride like the wind
Smile like a child
Land with both feet on the ground
The trick is to know when to let go of the merry go round
When the ride leaves you dizzy and life’s such a blur
There’s no difference between where you are & where you were
It’s movin’ too fast, and God knows it will
Sometimes you need some time sittin’ still
And I’m slowly slowin’ me down
Knowin’ this world will go round
It’ll keep goin’ round even when I stop spinnin’
I’m figurin’ out it ain’t all about winnin’
You ride like the wind
Smile like a child
Land with both feet on the ground
The trick is to know when to let go of the merry go round
You ride like the wind
Smile like a child
Land with both feet on the ground
The trick is to know when to let go
The trick is to know when to let go of the merry go round
Oh this merry go round

I LOVE THIS SONG. THIS IS HOW I FEEL WORKING ON THE PRIDE OF AMERICA CRUISE SHIP FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS AND THERE ARE TIMES WHEN I HAVE NO IDEA WHEN IT WILL END. WHILE I LOVE GOING TO ALL THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS THERE ARE TIMES WHERE I WISH I COULD JUST GET OFF THIS MERRY GO ROUND. I FEEL LIKE I’M LOOSING MORE OF MYSELF EVERYDAY. I CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR THE WHOLE SONG IN SEPT. THANK -YOU TERRI FOR THIS AMAZING SONG.

Loving this song, TC. Can I say how awesome it is to see your name under all of these song titles? I’m so happy for you that you’re having more creative freedom to sing and express your own words again for a change, so kudos to you for following your heart and your instincts.
This song really hits home as I’ve come to realize over the last year that I need to learn to live more in the moment. I’m always thinking about the next thing, what’s going to happen next, always moving on… I need to just chill and learn to live in the moment, and this song will definitely serve as a needed reminder for me!

Terri, it’s like you peek into my world and right a song about it… I’ve had the pleasure of meeting you at concerts many times mostly in Florida, I usually have my little girl with me she is 9 and loves your music too. I always tell you that you mean so much to us with your lyrics, smile an attitude towards life! Your mother is very lucky to have a daughter like you! Thanks for all your caring and passion in times like this it’s nice to see an artist stay so true to themselves! Hope to see you soon! Dianne & Lex <3

Hank is absolutely right! Please keep it in the show.
Mom said this song was her favorite when you performed it at Silver Springs.
I would believe it would inspire some to come out of their box world and realize what is important, to become that child we have forgotten lives within us all.
Excellant work Terri! We always want more

Wow……beautiful song. I love how you’ve gone back to that ‘country’ sound…..not that it wasn’t there before….but it seems like there’s a different tone, attitude, and feeling going on here. I am loving it, Terri. I think you have really gone in the right direction for the phase of your life. Nice job!!
