everyone should try the Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins. Those are fantastic books! They are the best thing I have read in a long time. Why they aren’t more popular than Harry Potter and the Twilight series combined I will never know.

Just saw “The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo”. I would say that was a pretty good flick. It had alot of mature content, so…may not be up some’s alley. It really had some twists and turns. It is all in subtitle, so if you don’t like reading your movies, not the one for you. It is to be made into an Americanized version, so may want to wait and see it. It is based on one book from a series of three. Another foreign film is/has been made for the second book…will check that one out too.

While I was over for the fan party, I was lucky enough to pick up Chely Wright’s Book “Like Me”(not Available here in Oz) but unlucky as I missed my opportunity to get Chely to sign it, we stayed at the same hotel. Oh well back to the book.
So much of this book touched me in a big way, as I could relate to how Chely or anyone in that position feels. After 13yrs in the Military & hiding my truth self away, Well lets just say it nearly destroyed me.
The policy “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” can be more devastating for an individual than being honest. The powers to be… should just let people live their lifes.
Oopps starting to rant… sorry. But after losing 13yrs of my life, I’m very passionate & emotional about the journey I have been on & the one Iam on now.
Anyone who has had to hide away, do yourself a favour, read this book.

Good Morning to all of my TC Family!!!!
A while back Terri had recommended the book “The Shack” as a good read. That is an understatement!!!! I just finished the book this morning, the morning of my 46th birthday.
That book was truely a gift to my heart and soul. I started this book upon my return home from having major surgery a week and a half ago, something to pass the time while my body heals from being invaded and having one of my organs cut out. This book was also a book of healing for my heart and soul!! I am not ashamed to say that I wept through out the book!!!
If I had the financial means to buy everyone I know a copy of this book, I would and give it to each of you as a gift!!! I can’t even pass my copy of the book along to someone else to read and then keep passing it on, because I downloaded it to my “Kindle” electronic book, which is the way I get most of my books now because it is more “eco-friendly”, not to mention easier to carry around this small, lightweight electronic book than a heavy bag full of bulky books.
This book is a very powerful book that has altered the way I look at our gift of life, our relationships with each other and my relationship with God.
If you have not already read this book, YOU HAVE GOT TO READ IT!!!
I know I already posted this in the General Chat area as well, but I wasn’t sure how many people actually check this link out, and wanted to pass this on to as many people as possible!!
Peace, love and light to all of you!!

I just finished the book, “The Story of Edgar Sawtelle”. It was a good book, but emotional and there were times I had to put it down. The last half of the book was better, but I thought it had an odd ending and could have been better. Anybody else read this book? What were your thoughts?

Ok, this isn’t a book (but it is loosely based on one, does that count?)…recently I saw a production of the play “Wicked.” Let me tell you, it is pretty fantastic. If anyone out there likes theater, you should try to take in this show. And, if you feel the desire, read the book Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West by Gregory Maguire. Good stuff folks.

Reading Reason For Hope by Jane Goodall right now. She simply amazes and inspires me! Any animal lover and nature enthusiast would love this collection of memoirs. And in my quest to find this book, I came across another book I just had to have simply because the name of it nearly made me snort my coffee out of my nose! Awww…dangit…I get to rambling and forget my original intent of this post…
I recently watched “The Reader” with my middle child who is a movie buff. This movie is absolutely spot on fabulous…Kate Winslet is in it…which is a plus. If you haven’t seen this, y’all need to check it out. And oddly enough…it’s about a person who eventually makes the changes she needs to and educates herself. I don’t know if I care for the ending, as I bawled like a baby…but this is a must see, if you ask me.

Wildthing…Who Moved My Cheese?…it’s around here somewhere waiting for me to open it. Maybe I should…
I must say that I’ve read more since January 1st than I’ve read in my adult life. Life happens to all of us and we go searching for the answers…one perk to going through some rough times as of late has been that my love for reading has returned. It doesn’t hurt that I feel like I’m educating myself in the process.
These days I’ve mostly been reading books about relationships and furthering them. It takes work to make it to forever, and I’m all about that right now. It’s not enough to just be in a relationship…I want to be in a good, healthy, loving relationship. So, at this point my partner and I are educating ourselves to do just that. And the rediscovering of ourselves (as individuals) and each other (as a couple) is simply amazing.
And…I’ve hijacked this thread to ramble…blah, blah…sorry. Next time I promise to bring a great book to the table…

Review on “90 Mnutes in Heaven”. In the very first few pages, I was comforted about how I felt about Heaven. In realizing that when my Father passed, he no longer is in pain, and has all the energy he needs for eternity. For the first time, with my own conscience, I got down on my knees and prayed. I’ve had knowledge that it works. =) My complaints have, over the years, been right up there with the best of them. Don Piper went through one of the worst situations anybody can. To get through it and have an attitude like he has, it can only come from a power that is greater, which is God. Another book, which I am planning on reading, called “Glimpses of Heaven”, by Trudy Harris, RN. About true stories of Hope and Peace at the end of life’s journey. It’s about people who have had that near death experience, and woke up to tell their story. I feel more at peace than I ever have. On the nights I read it, I slept better than I have in a long time. A peaceful read.
Agree with woodmont on the epic-ness of Avatar.
Great book I just finished – Who Moved My Cheese? by Dr Spencer Johnson. Great unorthodox self-help/inspiration book, very different from any Joel Osteen/John Maxwell. Nice, short read too. If you’ve ever wanted to improve your reaction to change, go in search of the Cheese.
