GuitarNeckAnita Cochran is finding “serenity” with her long awaited new release “Serenity”!

Anita says “after switching record labels, I had to do some soul searching and after several years I feel I’m in a bette r place, which is why I’m calling my first new album in 5 years “Serenity”.

Teaming up with longtime friend, musician and producer Mark Thompson. The two co-produced the critically acclaimed record for Tammy Cochran (no relation) “Where I Am”. From there Anita and Mark got busy on Anita’s new music. “I felt I had a lot to say, and the music just kept coming” says Anita. Being the sole writer of all 10 songs and it’s full of surprises. The title track features Ty Herndon on vocals and a new acoustic recording of her hit “What If I Said”.

A special treat is a fan favorite and much talked about “I Wanna Hear A Cheatin’ Song”. A song that made music history as it features the voice of Conway Twitty singing a song he never recorded years after his passing. “It’s amazing but he sang every word that is on this song. We pieced words from his previous recordings together for this project. I grew up on Conway’s music and received his family’s blessing, so it only felt right to include this song on the new record” . The “Cheatin’ Song” as fans call it, wasn’t the first time Anita made music history. When she first debuted in 97 with “Back To You”, she became the first woman in country music to produce, sing , write and play multi-instruments including lead guitar on her own album. Anita says “I didn’t think anything about it, I had been doing that since I was kid having my own home studio and making my own records, I thought everyone did it like that”.

Her debut album produced the number one smash “What If I Said” a duet she wrote with one of her hero’s in mind Steve Wariner. She then recorded it with Steve. The two brought the song to the top of charts. With the release of her sophomore album “Anita”, her talent and model good looks had Hollywood calling. She would appear in the movie “The Dukes Of Hazard in Hollywood” where she costarred along Tom Wopat and Toby Keith. In addition to her acting role, the film featured four songs from her “Anita” cd. The movie has now been released for sale on DVD.

Anita has been nominated by the CMA and ACM’s. Gibson presented her with the ”Best Guitar Player” award.  She received “Vocal Event of The Year” for “What If I Said” by the TNN awards, an award that was voted by the fans which Anita will always treasure.

Anita is currently touring with Terri Clark and promoting her new cd, “Serenity”. “I love to play with other artists and musicians. That’s what I’ve done since I was 5. If it’s good music, it’s just flat out fun for me”. “Playing with Terri is a blast. Her show is so full of energy and we have a great time. Plus, I get to sing harmony, which I love and I get to switch out instruments on stage from banjo, mandolin to guitar. I’m like a kid in a candy shop”. Anita20is also performing a few of her own songs on a lot of the shows before Terri hits the stage. It’s really a great opportunity and touring with a friend just makes it even better!”

The new album is terrific…I love it…well worth every penny. It was so great to see you at four shows in October, Anita. Wish I could do Vegas, but hopefully I will see you on the US acoustic tour…or on your own tour too! :)
